Penetration Sealing

Penetration Sealing

Penetration sealing is used to compartmentalise different sections of a building into smaller sections and is a highly effective form of passive fire protection (PFP). This form of compartmentation means properly installed systems will contain and slow the spread of fire, smoke, heat, and toxic gasses.

Fire Barriers and Fire Curtains

Fire Barriers and Fire Curtains

Fire barriers are used to compartmentalise building voids or concealed spaces to delay the spread of fire and smoke in an emergency. This can be achieved by use of mineral fibre fire barriers or fire curtains.

Acoustic and Air Sealing

Acoustic and Air Sealing

Acoustic sealing is required where sound can penetrate from one building compartment to another. Increasingly important in schools, hospitals, offices and dwellings where noise transfer is a nuisance. Dense insulating products are installed to limit the travel of sound where compartments are breached.

Installing passive fire protection is not as straight forward as turning up on site and getting to work. In order to give a great service to our clients here’s our installation and documentation process:

  • Site Survey – Before we start work on a project, we carry out a site survey. This allows us to tailor the fire protection systems to our client’s needs. Then we know we will turn up on day 1 of installation with all the equipment and materials we need to complete the works correctly and safely.

  • RAMS – We provide our risk assessments and method statements before we start work. This will help us to minimise any risks on site to ensure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

  • Installation and records – Once our RAMS have been received and accepted then we can begin installation. We take thorough records of all our work. This includes photos of all installations. We label up and mark on drawings exactly where each item of work has been carried out. Once all works have been completed and all parties are happy with the installation, we will remove all remaining materials and equipment from site.

  • O&M Manual – Our final stage will be to collate all installation records, photos, product information, maintenance guidelines, etc into one easy to follow Operation and Maintenance document.

  • Certification - For all relevant fire protection we also provide a certificate of conformity backed by IFC Certification Ltd, a UKAS accredited provider of third-party accreditation; therefore, you can be confident we provide a professional and comprehensive service.

We realise some of our clients require documents to be completed in their own templates. For this reason, we are happy to work with you to ensure you receive the information you need in the format you need it. Please contact us with any queries regarding any aspect of our installation and documentation process.

Simplifire was founded in 2020 by brothers Ben and David Shipway, and although we may be a new company we’re certainly not lacking in experience, passion or ambition.

Since finishing his education Ben has worked in passive fire protection as an engineer and supervisor. With over 17 years of experience he has overseen projects on many of the landmarks around London including The Houses of Parliament, The O2 Arena and The Shard. His last project before co-founding Simplifire was to manage the fire protection works at the £200 million student accommodation project for Balfour Beatty at the University of Sussex.

David joined the fire protection industry in 2011 after completing his BSc at the University of Portsmouth. He has overseen projects including 20 Fenchurch St (The Walkie Talkie Building), The London Dungeons, Twickenham Stadium, and Heathrow Airport. In his previous position he designed and implemented several computer systems to help improve the efficiency of the company.

In 2023 Simplifire joined forces with P S Applications Ltd and formed The Fire Stop Group. Bringing together two specialists in the field of passive fire protection.

Here at Simplifire we are always looking for ways to diminish our footprint on the environment. We aim to make our business as paperless as is practical. We know sometimes this just isn't possible, and so we use only 100% recycled paper. It might not make the biggest impact but we believe change starts with ourselves.
